You Don't Have to Hate Where You Are to Want to Be Better
I can't help myself. I never stop with podcasts, books, YouTube videos and webinars about getting better. You see, this world is my hobby as well as my profession. I love it.
I have spent a lot of the last few years in the world of personal development. That's not just my work as a coach, being coached, creating development programs or teaching leadership. It seems to pervade my whole life.
My name is Stephen and I am a personal development junkie 🙋🏻‍♂️
I can't help myself. I never stop with podcasts, books, YouTube videos and webinars about being better. You see, this world is my hobby as well as my profession. I love it.
But there's a tension in this world too. There are those who say the path you should follow is one of acceptance. That happiness is not on the other side of success, it is already within us. I really believe this.
At the same time, you might well hear me say at times things like, "Everything you want is on the other side of hard." This is a call to arms to push yourself and see what you can achieve.
So which is it?
The answer, of course, is that it is both. If you cannot accept yourself as you are, it is hard to feel fulfilled. And if you are not testing yourself it is hard to find growth, meaning and purpose.
And so, you don't have to hate where you are to want to be better.
In fact, if you love where you are AND you want to be better, you get the best of all worlds.
