It's Not Your Fault, But...

Taking ownership of every aspect of your life is painful but powerful.

It is a truism because it is mostly true. Bad things that have happened to you may not be your fault, but make a choice that fixing them is your responsibility.

The moment you blame someone else, or circumstances, or luck for the things that you wish hadn't happened in the past, you rob yourself of agency in the present. That's not to say you were not unlucky, or someone didn't do a bad thing, or your circumstances were not ideal. Those things can be true and you can choose not to let them rob you of your own agency.

Taking ownership of every aspect of your life is painful, but it's also empowering. It's amazing how much of yourself you can unlock by never seeing yourself as a victim.

Have a great day, Stephen
